This was a British version of the hot American TV series "The Jerry Springer Show", as this programme was so popular in the United States and all over the world, it was decided to try out a version in England. Jerry Springer appeared in a few adverts asking people to call for tickets to the show, asking "Why should the Americans have all the fun?"

"Jerry Springer: The Opera" tells the story of a day in the job of world famous talk-show host, Jerry Springer. Jerry has to sort out a number of guests problems; including a man who wants to dress up as a baby, a man with 3 lovers (one of them a transexual) and a fat woman who wants to be a pole dancer. However, on this particular day, something out of the ordinary will happen...

Among his peers' other talk-shows, Jerry's is of the more passionate and of the more sensational. His topics range from bisexual affairs to rape. His guests sometimes get out of control and yell and scream at each other, but they are more believable than some other talk-shows.

NFL legend Jerry Rice heads to the small town of Irvington, Alabama to meet Alma Bryant High School's struggling football team. It's a race against the clock as Jerry has only one week to work with the Hurricanes to help inspire and motivate them to do better on and off the football field. Jerry spends one-on-one time with key players and gets to know them on a personal level by hearing their inspiring and sometimes heartbreaking stories. Jerry tackles the team's obstacles one by one. He calls on the local farming and shrimping communities to customize a professional workout for the team, recruits two NFL cheerleaders to improve school spirit and work with the cheer squad, pumps up the fans at the pep rally and imparts his knowledge from the sidelines during the team's big Friday Night.

While alive, Nemec's mother had a troubled relationship with her son; this rumination seems to be Nemec's public platform for coming to terms with unresolved familial issues. The director embellishes his film by linking personal events with 20th century history.
